Older Pup/Adult Good Manners - Level 1 |
Older Pup/Adult Dog TrainingEven if you have a puppy or dog over age 5 months it is never too late to socialize and train good manners. Just remember 6 months to three years is your puppy’s adolescent period where they are developmentally like a teenager wanting to test, push boundaries and explore the universe. Your dog is also getting bigger physically which can create difficulties for owners with large boisterous breeds. We can help support you during this challenging time. This class is also suitable for mature adult dogs and owners wanting to brush up on basic manners. The goal of this class is teaching good manners, basic obedience and socialization in a fun and effective way with a focus on problem prevention and owner education to help the dog and owner grow together.
We offer effective, positive solutions for: leash pulling, jumping on visitors, destructive chewing, barking and more. Your dog will learn to pay attention to you around distractions instead of barking and lunging and pulling, come when called, walk nicely on a loose leash, sit, down, stay, stay off food on the counter and on walks outside, sit for greetings instead of jumping, give and take of items in the mouth, lie down on its matt and settle, and to be polite and well mannered out in the community while passing by other people and dogs. We help owners understand how dogs learn – and how we can use positive reinforcement training to set dogs up for success. Weather permitting (spring, summer, fall) we start to venture out into the community taking little field trips to teach your dog to pay attention around distractions.
